7 Charging Mistakes That Quietly Slow Down Your Devices
Slow charging is not always caused by an ageing battery. The charger, cable, temperature and even the order in which devices are connected can make a noticeable difference.
1. Using an underpowered plug
A modern phone may accept fast charging, but an old 5W plug cannot provide it. Check the power supported by both the device and charger before assuming the battery is at fault.
2. Pairing a powerful charger with the wrong cable
Some cables are designed mainly for data or low-power charging. A suitable cable should support the required wattage and fit securely at both ends.
3. Charging in excessive heat
Heat can cause devices to reduce charging speed as a protective measure. Avoid leaving a charging phone in direct sunlight, under bedding or inside a hot vehicle.
4. Filling every port without checking the power split
Multi-port chargers often share their maximum output. Connecting a second device can reduce the power supplied to the first. The allocation chart is therefore more useful than the headline wattage alone.

7. Replacing equipment without checking compatibility
Fast-charging names can be confusing. Confirm support for standards such as USB Power Delivery rather than relying only on marketing language.
